Mindless/mindful pattern making

In Edinburgh College of Art on March 4, 2013 at 6:59 pm

I’ve been quite good at doing the whole ‘draw for an hour a day’ thing, Saturday being the exception, so quite a lot of drawings – of mindless (and/or mindful) patterns. I’m happy drawing patterns… I’ve gone from string to fingerprints to cabbage to contour lines, all in a couple of minutes.

Ehm, I’ve completely forgotten what I was gonna say now. Pish. My feet still hurt (it perhaps wasn’t the best idea ever to walk to Leith and back on Saturday), but on the plus side I bought a nice book yesterday – this one. There were spirographs, and I love spirographs (I’ve bought a spirograph thing so I can do some to go with all the other crazy looking drawings I’ve been doing). I have absolutely no idea what else we did yesterday, or the day before. Meep. Oh I know…there’s a bike one longer than ours at the museum, and the view from the roof is lovely (perhaps lovelier when it’s sunny though).

I’ve decided writing essay by hand is far more productive than trying to type straight away, my original sentence has been made better and I have a rambly introductory paragraph. Now I need to stop avoiding it and actually go write something worth reading. Pah.
